Fueling Innovation in Social dApps and Dev Tooling

The primary focus of our Pilot Round grants program lies in supporting builders who are driving innovation in two pivotal areas: Social dApps and Developer Tooling.

Social dApps:

Social decentralized applications (dApps) represent a cornerstone of the Pilot Round grants program. These applications encompass a wide range of platforms and services designed to facilitate social interactions, content sharing, and community engagement on the blockchain. Whether you’re envisioning the next-generation social media platform, a decentralized social network, a fun SocialFi experiment, or social features in any use case, we’re eager to hear about your ideas. We believe that decentralized social platforms have the power to democratize online communication, empower users with ownership of their data, and foster more transparent and inclusive digital communities. Social doesn’t only mean social media but encompasses any context where there are human interactions where social features can be integrated. The dapps should be built on Cyber L2, the testnet first, and then the mainnet when launched.

Developer Tooling: In addition to social dApps, we’re also keen to support projects focused on enhancing developer tooling within the Cyber ecosystem. Developer tooling encompasses a diverse array of tools, libraries, frameworks, and services designed to streamline the development process, improve developer productivity, and enhance the functionality of decentralized applications. Whether you’re working on extensions for CyberWallet, integrating MetaMask Snap functionality, or developing tools to simplify smart contract deployment and management, your contributions are invaluable. If you have other ideas that can contribute to the Cyber ecosystem infra and help other developers, feel free to apply and propose as well.

Our overarching goal with the Pilot Round grants program is to reward high-value builders who are instrumental in accelerating our community’s growth and driving the adoption of on-chain social and Web3 technologies. To learn more about the Cyber technologies, visit docs.cyber.co

The Blueprint for Grant Success in the Cyber Ecosystem: Our Review Rubric

Interested in participating in our Pilot Round? We’ve broken down the rubric the Cyber Grants Council will use to select the winning projects. Making sure your application has all the necessary information, is key in ensuring your project stands out. Overall we want to emphasize that they need to show how they can contribute to the Cyber ecosystem or onchain social, with clear propositions or goals.

  • Team Expertise and Domain Alignment: Demonstrate expertise aligned with Cyber’s goals: Highlight your team’s experience and skills that directly align with Cyber’s vision and mission. Showcase any relevant past projects, contributions, or expertise in the field of decentralized technologies, blockchain-based social networking, or related areas.
  • Technical Understanding and Critical Skills: Showcase a strong grasp of technical concepts relevant to your project: Provide evidence of your team’s technical proficiency, including programming languages, blockchain development experience, and familiarity with relevant tools and platforms. Consider including links to code repositories, previous projects, or technical documentation to demonstrate your capabilities.
  • Project Viability and Value Generation: Demonstrate the problem your project addresses and how it will provide value to the Cyber ecosystem or onchain social as a whole. Provide a roadmap outlining key milestones, timelines, and deliverables to demonstrate your project’s viability and long-term sustainability.
  • Milestones and Accountability: Provide clear, trackable milestones and action items associated with the grant: Break down your project’s development process into clear, achievable milestones, each with specific objectives and outcomes. Establish accountability mechanisms to ensure that project milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Innovation & Use of Technology: Avoid “copy-paste” approaches and showcase innovation: Emphasize the unique aspects of your project that differentiate it from existing solutions. Explain how your project leverages existing technology or introduces new concepts to address existing challenges or opportunities in the onchain technology space.
  • Utilization of Cyber Technology: Explain how your project integrates or utilizes CyberConnect technology to enhance its functionality, interoperability, or scalability. Highlight any synergies between your project and existing tools, platforms, or initiatives within the Cyber ecosystem. Showcase how your project contributes to the growth and development of the Cyber community and ecosystem as a whole.

Get in touch with us on Discord and Forum if you have any questions. We will also be having regular Office Hours twice a week. We are here to help!

We are also joining our frens at @CharmVerse for a special space to talk about the community-driven Grants and Cyber L2 ecosystem. Join us on Thursday, Apr 4th, 10 am ET. Link.

In conclusion, the Cyber Ecosystem Grants Pilot Round presents a great opportunity to fuel innovation in social dApps and developer tooling and is our experiment to find the best way to support our builder community. With grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 per project, we’re calling on builders worldwide to join us in shaping the future of Cyber and decentralized societies.
